Privacy Policy

The short version

CaddieBook is local-first. The rounds, shots, putts, stats, and settings you record are stored only on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your data, we have no account system, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we do not sell or share your information — because we never receive it in the first place.

Who we are

This policy describes how the CaddieBook mobile app (“Caddie Book”, the “app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information. CaddieBook is the data controller for the limited purposes described below. If you have any questions, you can reach us at support@caddiebook.app.

Information we collect

None on our servers. All data you enter — course names, scores, shot positions, putts, notes, your bag, and app settings — is saved in an on-device database (SQLite) that lives inside the app on your phone. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.

We do not collect or have access to your name, email address, contacts, photos, or any account identifier, because the app has no account system and no sign-in.

Information we do not collect

To be explicit, CaddieBook does not:

  • request or use your location or GPS;
  • include advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs;
  • track you across other apps or websites (we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission);
  • access your contacts, photos, microphone, or other device data; or
  • use cookies or similar identifiers for tracking.

How your data is stored and removed

Because your data is local, deleting the app removes it from your device. If your device is backed up (for example via iCloud or Finder/iTunes), the app’s data may be included in that backup under Apple’s control and privacy terms, not ours. We have no ability to access, recover, or delete data on your device. You remain in full control of your data and can delete any or all of it within the app at any time.

App Store & Apple services

CaddieBook is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download or use the app, Apple may collect certain information independently of us — such as crash logs, basic performance data, and aggregate App Store and App Analytics metrics — in accordance with Apple’s Privacy Policy. Where this data is shared with us, Apple provides it only in aggregate or anonymized form that does not identify you. That collection is governed by Apple, not by us, and we do not control it.

Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

Because the app stores your data only on your device and we do not receive it, we do not process your personal data on our servers. To the extent any limited processing occurs (for example, aggregate crash and performance data provided by Apple), we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and functioning.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.

Because your data lives only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly: you can view, edit, export, and delete your information inside the app, and remove all of it by deleting the app. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising or any other purpose, and we do not have a copy of it to provide or erase on your behalf. If you have questions about your rights, email support@caddiebook.app.

International users

CaddieBook is available globally. Because your data stays on your device, your information is not transferred to us across borders. Any data handled by Apple in connection with the App Store is subject to Apple’s own international data-transfer safeguards.

Data security

Your data is protected by the security features of your device and operating system, including device-level encryption and the app sandbox that prevents other apps from reading CaddieBook’s data. We recommend keeping your device locked with a passcode or biometric lock and keeping iOS up to date.

Children’s privacy

CaddieBook is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no data leaves the device, we do not receive personal information from any user regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change — for example, if we add optional cloud sync, accounts, or analytics in the future — we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above before that functionality ships. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
